getting tired of my modded gamecube

Everygame i try to play it ends up freezing. tales of symphonia, pokemon xd, fire emblem. every game freeze. It pointless haveing a modded gamecube if i can't play my backups. I am about to go to the store to find some mini dvd-r disk. hopefully thatll work. Anybody have any other suggestions

I have tried changing the file from .gcm to .iso now it freezes early on in the game. Sometimes it doesn't even read the disk. Sometimes it reads the disk and then nintendo screen comes up and say "reset the console. error something"

I tried turning off dre fix. didn't work. 5x didn't work. left it on all didn't work.
Stream fix on off doensn't work. Dvd mode a/b didn't work. Hopefully its the dvd+r im using. hope nothing is wrong w/ the laser.

i just went to bestbuy and bought fujifilm dvd-r 4x mini. Burning the min dvd now. hopefully itll work.

1) What DVD burner do you have?
2) Have you flashed the latest firmware to your burner?
3) What is the media code of the discs you are using?
4) Have you checked what the ohm value of your gamecube laser is?
5) If you have checked the ohm value, have you tried doing a laser tweak?

I suggest you download DVDINFOPRO, and do PI/PO scans or a couple of your burnt games. Then upload the results here, so that I can take a look at them.

nec3500 does not support pi/po scans.

The NEC burners do a pretty decent job of burning those prodiscSO3 discs. So if the games you have burnt on to those do not work, you need to do a laser tweak.

If the value is over about 350ohms, go down to about 200 ohms.
If it is between 250-350 ohms, go down to around 150ohms.
If it is below 250ohms, try about 100ohms.

i get like .751 is it supposed to be decimals?

YOu have have multimeter set to 2k?

If so, that is a very high number... I have never seen one over .550

If it is that high, I would go to around 300, rather then 200.

well i have a digital multimeter. Its automatic multimeter from radio shack. so can't set it to 2k. Sometimes when reading itll be decimals like .987 or .798 sumthing like that. And then when adjusting the pot even more it reads 170. right now its reading 187 it was originally 179.5.i put in a game 5 min later it freezes. I tried to get it to 100 but i could only get like 150-30. Its a pain adjusting this pot. I might just sell this laser and buy a new one. Would that solve my problem? Or will it still not read back ups.

well i did 200, i did 187, i tried 100, nothing works. ill try some other time.

i set it to 250 and seems to be working fine hopefully. Didn't freeze at the same spot it normally does. So hopefully 250 will be able to play my backups.

nope spoke too soon. I got a little farther in the game but it ended up freezing. When i turn the cube off then turn it back on the game doesn't even read. It spins up and the stops. :( don't know wat to do.

well i think its the laser. i manually held the open button down. played the game and then all of a sudden the disk stops spinning. Does that mean i have to get a new laser?

would getting the bios 1.0rc5 help?

well the 1.0c5r bios didn't work. Still freezes. Don't know the problem.

well my multimeter is an automatic digital multimeter. If i see 1k then its .200*1000. if there is no 1 then itll read 200.

You need to get a multimeter that you can set to 2k. Then when you measure the ohms, it will say something like .320
