I've noticed that a couple of my UMDs have started to get crushed. The clear window on top is being pushed in, separated from the white casing. right now I keep the PSP and accessories in a carry case I got with the Score Megapack (http://pdp.com/prod_detail.php?sku=PL6035). I like it but it just doesn't seem like it can comfortable contain the PSP Slim, the UMD's, data cable and earbuds. They still seem to be getting crushed even when I'm using the UMD protectors.
So what would be some other options available to me? I don't want a hard case. The carry case would spend most of its time in my backpack or in my car; I just put the whole PSP in my Pocket if I'm taking it into somewhere, so I don't necessarily need something small and easy to carry.
On another note, isn't it possible to backup and play UMD iso's with custom firmware or am I imagining things?

That is correct - i suppose it depends on the cfw you have but 3.xx m33 has a built in UMD dumper (don't know about prevoius versions) - basically you change the USB mode from memory stick to umd (via vsh menu or recovery) - attach psp to your PC and activate usb connection - PC will connect to psp and will see the UMD data instead of the memory stick - Copy this to pc, Then all you need to do is copy the dumped UMD data on to your memory stick (remember to change usb back to memory stick) as an iso (or you can compress it into a CSO) Then play game from memory stick!!
Do that and your problems are solved - just leave the UMD at home to collect dust as their meant to!!:D

Oh yeah, I came to the solution of using a micro SD and loading up my ISOs I detail it in a post on PS3forums here

Just wanted to share some information with you guys.
This all started when I realized that a couple of my UMDs that I kept in my carry case were getting crushed (It was Daxter and Family Guy: Freakin Sweet Collection so fortunately they were free).

At first I wanted to try and look into getting another case, but I do like the one I have. Then I remembered that with custom firmware there was someway to rip the iso's of your games and play them from mem stick. Unfortunately my 8gig is loaded up with PSX isos and there isn't much space left on it. Then I stumbled across this thread over at Maxconsole.
After some more searching around on the internet, I decided to go with this set of adapters and a Micro SDHC from Amazon
Amazon.com: Micro SD Adapter Set (SD, mini SD, Memory Stick Pro Duo): Everything Else
Amazon.com: Sandisk 4GB MicroSDHC Memory Card with SD Adapter (BULK Packaging): Electronics
Well they came today so I decided to give it a go.
Here's the adapter set and the Micro SDHC

and the Memory Stick Pro Duo adapter next to my 1 and 8 gig Memory sticks.

I first tried out the Micro SDHC in all the different adapters on my computer's card reader. I was dismayed to find that the SD didn't pop up as removable storage. Finally I just clicked on all the removable drives till one opened as being 3.7something gigs in "Raw" format. I formated that drive as fat32 with quick format checked. I was then able to insert it into my PSP and format it there. So in the end it did indeed work.

Data transfer isn't quite as fast as with a mem stick duo, but faster than he UMD I'd assume. I do wonder if my adapter would take micro SDHCs higher that 8gigs but it's not likely I'll get one of those since loading up on smaller sizes seems more cost effective.

Yeap use a CFW and rip that game to your Personal Terminal... carrying a memory card is way better and lighter then carrying a bunch of UMD's and safer =D
