Hi,

I've just installed an argon chip in my d2c wii using a wii-clip v2. I've also connected the 3 region wires as per the diagram. My wii is a PAL UK version so I have used point 'v' on the chip (I assume that's right)

I've managed to flash the modchip with the wii powered on and it plays original games fine.

With the argon programmer connected to the ribbon cable and not the PC the red light is on. Both dip switches are off.

I've tried testing using 2 backups but it does not recognise the discs (NTSC).

Any help or ideas welcome...Thanks

only between 70% -80% games work

make sure that you have connected the V on not the J or the W

the J and the V look very similar on the chip.

:)

incidently ( and i know people will post in reply to this) but i have had nothing but bad experience with the argon chip unfortunatly.

swapped for d2pro and working flawlessly

and this isnt based on a single install / chip , but more over multiple installs , yet i know installers who swear by them

Try unplugging the programmer. You can leave the cable on the argon chip. The guys who make it, even say that this should be done.

That might help?!

As for the joints, there is SX = NTSC, Y = NTSC-J, and V = PAL.

I've now tried a backup of one of my original UK games but still no joy. I've unplugged the programmer as you suggested but still no joy.

I'm thinking of taking the drive unit off to see the status of the LED on the chip. I take it this should flash when the drive is spinning?

I guess the next stage would be to test the alt points to chip points to make sure all the pins on the wii-clip are intact. Starting to think I shouldn't have bothered with the Argon but it seemed 'future proof' at the time :(

i had a bit of a pain at first due to the orientaion of the chip , i was looking at it upside down and ended up soldering to the Y point instead of the V point.

also the V point does actually have a part of the letter screened off so looks more like a J than a V.

i have pointed out the U point on the diagram.

V point is in red.

long shot , but like i said for a little while it had me scratching my head, as i intalled them with the chip being updside down to my working angle.

:D
