View Full Version : New memory stick time. What to do?

I want to buy a new memory stick. Can somebody tell me how to get it Pandorized?

Please note I have 3.90 m33-2 already installed and running on a 2GB memory stick as well as a hard-modded batt (done by me). I'm assuming I can't just copy the data off one stick to the other one? The m33 was originally installed as 3.60 firmware from some Multi_Pandora newbie installer (sorry forgot the name of it) then upgraded to 3.90 from Dark Alex later, if it matters).

It's been a while I've dabbled with this and I stressed like hell last time getting it done.

I looked around but to me most tutorials are 1,000x more long-winded and confusing than they need to be and it's hard to find direct answers without spending hours looking so I thought I'd ask here.

Appreciate the help, really.

Or he could use UPMS/UTP.

Mr Unlucky & DeathCradle
Thanks to both of you for the advice. On Monday I'll be getting a new stick (I delayed it until I had the right advice)

Mr Unlucky
The readme for Despertar is a bit more involved. Is it a simple case of running it on my custom 3.90?

DeathCradle
I visited the UPMS site (noob911) and found it all went above my head.
http://www.noob911.com/index.php?view=article&catid=35%3Apsp-tutorials&id=45%3Ahow-to-install-upmsv4&option=com_content&Itemid=57

Will the thing work on 3.90? It doesn't say. I couldn't get simple answers (like "use this if you want to...blah blah") but I will try that in case Despertar stuffs up (Before this I thought Despertar was just for softmodding the battery too; see I'm thick!)

Some basic questions, I hope:
1) What is UTP?
2) Has "Despertar Del Cementerio" made hardmodding like I did with my battery unnecessary now? Or just unnecessary on an already-custom-firmwared PSP?
3) From what I can gather, Time Machine allows 1.50 firmware for some homebrew apps. Is this worth ignoring for my purposes? (everything runs fine so far)
4) Can you tell me what IPL and PBP is short for? I know that they are files, but I want to know what they are abbreviations for (and maybe what they do), so I can remember them and what they are for better.

That's all, really. Thanks again. (and sorry if these questions seem a little dumb; I have tried to make sense of this as much as I can)

1st get UPMS v4.
Next type in UPMS v4 install on youtube search.
Then watch the video and do exactly what those people are doing.
This is the easiest method I can think of. I too sometime have trouble with readme and written instructions. I learned all of this PSP CFW installation from Youtube tutorials.

I haven't use UTP before, but my guess is that it's another Program similar to UPMS.
So you already have a hard mod pandora battery, it will work with UPMS and Despartar Del Cemento (DC for short). Soft modding a pandora battery is easier and easier to change the battery back to normal.
Time machine, let you have multiple Operating firmware. Do you need it? It looks cool, going from 3.90 M33-3 to 1.50 OFW just by turning the PSP off and turning the PSP back on while holding the X button or what ever button you assigned to boot to 1.50 OFW.
IPL is short for intial program loader. Don't know what PBP is short for. Only know that it's at the end of the Eboot. So it must stand for some kind of program boot.

step1: copy the official sony eboots for 1.50 3.40 3.90 to your ms as 150.pbp 340.pbp, and 390.pbp
Step2: run the dc5 installer
Step3: Hold whatever button you want to boot dc5 with

That's it.

U.P.M.S IS the Ultimate and you should eventually get it, but dc5 is idiot-proof. Also you can install U.P.M.S right over top of (or even beside) dc5 at any time.

I'm assuming the purpose of the older sony firmware is to do something related with them. If I don't want this are they still necessary for dc5 to work? Also are the Australian and US firmware different to each other? I've always used the Australian version for fear of stuffing things up (I bought the thing in Australia)

Again, thanks for your answers and PSPTEstH8, thanks.

Hi Klor...

Sounds like youre an Aussie...me too.

Anyway mate, just get the latest UPMSInstallerV4 which Includes DCv5....and follow the Instructions. Dont muck around with any of the others!! Its a 120+Mb download, but worth It.

Its very easy If you take your time, and simply read what It tells you as you go.......one step at a time...The Installer actually does It that way...step1, step 2, step 3.....Also theres a very good thread on these forums....plainly marked for UPMS.

and once its done, and If you have a Pandora battery, you can basically take any PSP, where No Man Has Gone Before...and Its really easy!!

It looks like a really complicated process, and It Is a little, for someone who can hardly use a computer, which Is what usually happens In the noobs forum, but once you have done one, youll kick yourself at how easy It really Is, and all those previous bricking worries will go out the door.

I did my first 2, a couple nights back, and very proud I was too, so Im speaking from my own experience.

Do yourself a Favour...READ READ READ....

Btw...I may be wrong, however, I dont think It matters what firmware you use.....except, I doubt Ild use Japanese, speaking english myself, but Ive never had a problem with USA firmware versions.

Cheers

UPMS & UPT are one and the same - Same functions.

UPT is now developed by the PSP4Noobz Team.

4) Can you tell me what IPL and PBP is short for?
