While browsing a local pawn shop i came across a wii for 25$, when i asked why it was so cheap all the guy could tell me was "it just dosn't work". well, for that price i was willing to find out what was wrong, and even if it really was just dead i figured i could just part it out.
anyways, after looking around to see what was wrong i decided to open it up. what i found made me quite happy, a d2Pro modchip with a flexpcb that had been improperly installed(whoever did it must have been using a soldering iron with a 1/2" or so tip, all the solders were so massive that it was hard to even tell what was in there). And the reason why it wouldn't work was because s/he de-soldered the power connection to the board(i fixed it)
Moving on. the flexPCB is shot, its melted though in a few places but i think i can remove it without doing any damage to the console. how difficult would it be to replace it with a wii-clip? nothing seems broken anymore but there would be some residual solder on some of the points that id prefer not to risk removing.

If there's any form of residual solder such that it is not in the same state as it was brand new then i would shy away from the clip. It may not fit properly.
Your best choice might be to use a 9 wire mod chip solution using alternate points on the back rather than a clip.

wii clip will proberbly not work, they are a nightmare on a new board some of the time.
if you can salvage the d2pro ? clean it up and install it how it should be installed"soldered" as somegamer suggested your best option might be to solder to the vias, rather than trying to go to the ic legs, the ic legs have been through enough by the sound of it.

first try to see if the wii will work with original games, then if it does you can mod it again.

de soldering braid would be your best friend in this situation, i dont get how people make these monsterus bridges between IC legs just use the braid and its gone its to fcuking simple. but that wii is a great find hell i pay more than $25 for the d2Pro chips themselves, lucky bastard:)

the ic legs actually havn't been solderd. i probably should have mentioned that before. the flex was stuck down to make contact them with what i belive was white glue.... i cleaned that off in the beginning though
and the console plays original games perfectly.
