Just seen on the Infectus site there is a nine wire install firmware now out. I was going to do a 13 wire install but is there any point in doing this now?

d-oh just spotted it's for wasabi chip only at the mo. Maybe in a few weeks time if they port it!

I personally don't see the reasoning behind cutting back the wire install, when it was only 15 wires to begin with..... 9 wires, 15 wires, not really much of a difference... you save what... maybe 3 minutes on every install?

It's great that you can save 3 minutes. Then this is not for you anyways.

The point is with the 9 wire installation, 3 of those wires are soldered to the legs of the chip. This makes it much easier for the average installer who wants to do it themselves to put the chip on. The other alternative is the clip. People who love the clip love it a lot -- but for people who get the job done right we know the clip is a less reliable installation.

For those who even find soldering to 3 legs of the chip difficult there's always the alternate via's on the back of the board. Possibilities are endless.
