I am new to all this, just got a 360 today and it has a HITATCHI drive in it.What programs an files do I need?

it will be an hitachi79 if its new and an hitachi.

means you need soldewring skills to start off with then its hacked similar to hitachi78.

Its scond hand XBOX360. HOw do I find out exact drive model and does it still need soldering?

next we need to know manufacture date of the back of the xbox to determine how old it is

should be a version lower than a 79 then no need to solder

you simply now need a pc with SATA connectivity preferably a INTEL or NFORCE chipset but VIA works for some people too

I have 4 SATA sockets on my motherboard (PHILIPS IQON) if thats what i need

I just flashed my first Hitachi 47 drive last night. Only ever done Samsung's previously. It was a very different experience but worked 1st time. All the information i got from the lastest 2008 Textbook PDF so follow that to the book and you can't go wrong.
