As it's in a socket it's a piece of pee. You can do a couple of things. get el cheapo pic progger... erase the chip and re-write with Yoasm V3. This sounds harder than it is. read around. You can make a progger yourself for about £4/$8.
You could buy a YOASM or a Wiinja Deluxe (from an online re-seller) and just replace the Chip (it will come out of the socket easy with no soldering or messing). Or last resort you could ask nicely if someone will re-flash the chip for you to a working hex code. Send it off to them and hope they send it back good to go. As they only cost about £1 you'd prob be better off paying someone a couple of ££ to send you a new one however. I'm sure a member on here will do you one if you cover PIC/Postage. £2-£3 should cover chip, jiffy bag and a stamp.

Many thanks for info!
If a member would be willing to write the latest firmware to a chip for me I would be more than happy to sort out the cost and a little extra for their time.
Please someone pm me if this is an option.
