Square Enix have unleashed their first wave of paid download content for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles today with eight new items. There are three new character races at (300 points each, or 800 for all three): Lilty, Yuke, and Selkie. There are also new buildings at 200 points each and clothing items for 100 points each. The items for the game can only be purchased from the title screen, not the Wii Shop Channel and a update is first required for the game.

Before getting access to the downloads, though, players will have to update their copy of the game by re-downloading it through the Wii Shopping Channel. This update is, of course, free. This whole re-download business will presumably not be needed for the international versions of the games.

The downloadable content doesn't end here. Square Enix made mention today of future download content that includes a library, which will let you learn the unique abilities of the various races; the Unlimited Tower, a dungeon that can be played through over and over again; and the ability to change your adventurer's names. Specifics for these future downloads were not revealed.

it's a wiiware title. I don't understand how people can shell out big bucks for lines of code that everyone has access to, so it's not like you are achieving some big rare event paying for something a billion others can instantly get. Maybe I'm just talking out my ass, who can really tell
