Update - Datel FreeLoader Wii block rumor was a 'joke'

According to 'N-Europe', the rumor that a new Nintendo firmware for the Wii blocked Datel's FreeLoader was infact a 'joke'. According to them, owners of the FreeLoader for Wii may sleep soundly in the knowledge that the whole thing was just an invalid rumor.



Update: WiiBrew have admitted that the reportedly blocking of the Freeloader is in fact a "hilarious" April Fool's joke (it's Easter Sunday, or March 23rd, in case you didn't know). The widespread panic and paranoia caused by the clever editor of the WiiBrew page was all for nothing. Readers, you may sleep soundly tonight in the knowledge that this whole thing has been debunked.

it's not a damned joke nor it is a rumor. IOS37 provides a fixed signature check which is used in the next system menu update.

I play Smash Bros but not religiously, all I want from my Wii is the ability to just play Gamecube games from different regions, I got an American Wii for the Nintendo Wii Imports because Freeloaders will get blocked.

The Gamecube was fucking awesome in 2003, that was when all the mega awesome games came out for the console! I have a lot of PAL versions which I want to use a GC Freeloader for but I am likely to get a modchip to cover my ass for that.

Well I feel qualified to settle this given that I was the one who posted the original (CORRECT) news about the update (fwiw - wiibrew news is not editable by just anyone), and that info came direct to me from bushing. The way he put it, there are two files needed to fix the signing bug. This update fixes ONE of those two files, so this is considerered to be "in preparation" for a fix. As I understand it, this update by itself will fix NOTHING, but if games start updating to IOS37 or Nintendo update the system menu, the exploit will be blocked.
As for those doubting wiibrew - these are the people who MAKE the exploit you all use and enjoy. Consider them to be fairly well educated on the matter.

The theory is, when a new Wii menu update or any other application uses the new system update - datel freeloader WILL be blocked. This patch is in preperation to block freeloader.

Hey moron. The new update hasn't been put into effect yet. When it does it will be blocked because it uses the same exploit as trucha. So ya I'm laughing right now hoehoehoehoehoe

Freeloader WORKS JUST FINE i updated to the latest firmware and it works just fine.
Dont listen to anyone that says it doesnt work its just ppl who spend alot of money buying ps3 or xbox 360 and we spend less money having more fun.
And before you say anything about horsepower and HD games i have my pc for that PC > ps3 and xbox 360 and Wii > xbox360 and ps3 in the fun factor.

Actually my understanding is that Mario Kart Wii JAP will not work on freeloader (PAL or USA) .
