View Full Version : Nic port on xbox not working

has anyone had a problem with the nic port on the xbox before i tried cleaning the pins with alcohol but the port still wont make a connction the lights wont even light up i checked the cable and the nic card in the computer both are good but the xbox port seems to be bad? anyone have any ideas on this one?

By chance did you recently have a power outage, or a thunder storm. If you've checked your network settings and everything is good, then it is a good chance that the network chip could have gotten fried. If so you can get another at Llama's website. But make sure you double check all of your network equipment first.

yes actually i did have an thunderstorm and an outage followed by a quick surge of power but the xbox was not on but my computer conected to the xbox was on could that still have caused the chip to fry?

ok checked llammas site and could not find any thing simular to a network chip is there any where else i could look?

from what i have read the ics chip is pretty vunerable to thunderstorms i guess i had better order 2!! i guess i am surprised it lasted this long 80)

Just make sure you have all of your equipment on good surge protectors, and you should be good.

i alredy do but the only thing i could think of is that the computer that is connected to my xbox was on when the surge hit it even screwed up the garage door openers?!?! crazy huh i think lightning acctually struck the ground near my house oh well thanks

Ok just to update all that helped out i was able to find and order the communication chip and i had an electrical engineer at my company uninstall the old and install the new (way to many pins for me to deal with) and it works great i cant believe that this has never happened to me before but i can say that a lightning ground strike was recorded very close to my house it even fried my garage door opener the board was totaly shot! well thanks for the help!

Good you fixxed it, one thing though, try not to post so many times ina row, if you posted and no one has replied and you the next psoter if you one to udpate just edit your post and say udpate and put what you were gonna pust again, otherwise you might get called the attention :P.
