View Full Version : Google cashing in from Xbox 360 piracy, promoting pirate games
A user recently started up a forum thread which asked why we were promoting pirated Xbox 360 games on the forum. After experiencing what he was talking about for ourselves, it is clear that Google themselves are actually accepting adverts for pirated Xbox 360 games and displaying them on websites. The particular advert states "Xbox 360 Xtreme Games from just £4.00". So for the record, Google is displaying such adverts and they are not coming from us directly.

Kind of hypocritical to say when you guys are in bed with Divineo and post every modchip that they put out...

MODCHIPs (w/o copyrighted software) = LEGAL
REFLASHING HARDWARE (w/o copyrighted software) = LEGAL
SELLING MODCHIPs and HACKING TOOLS (w/o copyrighted software)LEGAL
TUTORIALS ON HACKING/MODDING = LEGAL
SELLING, USING, DISTRIBUTING, MODIFYING the copyrighted software = ILLEGAL
so google isn't doing anything illegal
only xbox360flashing.co.uk is doing the illegal activity.

its piracy.they put stupid retasrd crap about how you should opwn the original and how they dont condone piracy yet sell pirate copies of games like they are sunday carboot every day of week.
hell they will even knock you up a cover,so if you got the original and want to buy a copy why dont you put your original in a plastic sleeve or a dvd case which you can buy seperately and put the copy in the originals box,so basicly this condone and have original is basicly crap as they dont ask you for proof of original or purchase receipts.
the site is in uk and its illegal to sell copies of copyright protected materials.hacking of consoles aint so bad, they dont take a tough approach to it as long as you aint trading in public where there are people with licences.modchipping a console is illegal here in uk,you cant install one but,you can sell one but, retailers on high street wont sell them as places like game complain and say it destroys their business and they pay tax's and rates.this is why the people or persons sell them online cos they are basicly tryinmg to avoid publicly selling them, probably step up for them rather than risking car boot.also just for the money.
but, this was seen ages ago when satel was saying how we all condone piracy by saying they are backups, well it was funny cos it was me who made the first post about the banner in that thread he posted in.

promoting the use of console modifications that have legal uses (homebrew, backups, etc) is a far cry from promoting a site that IS SELLING BACKUP COPIES OF GAMES.

i signed back in just to say you are a bunch of idiots, worst post ive ever seen on this website. no reason to attack google. you can ban me if you want, for this post... i don't even want to view your front page anymore, never the less post in the forums.
ps. any information on this site is more readily available in google. when you search just do a "-maxconsole" query.

In the UK we have something call the Proceeds of Crime Act, something in which eBay have been famously implicit for a long time, looks like they will be shower buddies with Google.

maxconsole = hypocrites!!!
its your (maxconsole) choice to use google as a way of paying for your site with their adverts.
you also report (what is considered by most) shady activities in the videogaming scene.
...and now that all of a sudden someone whinges about an ad on your website ....you point the blame at someone else
....puh-lease
if you want to retain any form of credibility, i would suggest you just wipe this story straight off the front page and pretend it never happened

Google cashing in from Xbox 360 piracy, promoting pirate games... which in turn funds MAXCONSOLES... and possibly more ;)
why do MAXCONSOLE not have a note next to the Ad that it is an advertisement from a third party that you have no control over (if that is the case)...
MAXCONSOLE could also contact google and warn them about such adverts on thier site is not tolerated (if that is the case)...

My thoughts exactly....
I saw this advert on MC the other day, clicked on it - someone should report the website to authorities somehow... cannot be allowed to blatently trade copied 360 games!?

OH lol.. ya I live in Canada. Where downloaders and consumers are very well protected and liberated.
ex. After all downloading MP3 from ANY source is ok, as long as its serves as a backup.
ex. drug paraphernalia are legal and sold in many corner stores & Canabis Culture shops/corporations. With bongs and pipes on display in store front windows. lol:D

I'm sure that the people who invented the atomic bomb feel oh so much better about Hiroshima because they can honestly say: they didn't provide the target. A bit extreme of a comparison, but as others have mentioned Maxconsole is 100% responsible for the content their domain displays (nobody is twisting anyones arm to put ads from xx provider here.)

ROFLMAO, you do realize that such corner stores are usually left open as long as they are good targets for providing useful surveillance, right?

Poor Micro$$$$$$oft.
if you want to retain any form of credibility
It's far too late for that.
Zeus even posted a screenshot of the ad, without blurring the url of the site selling illegal copies. Imo this thread is just an ad for that site.

This is Canada NOT the UK. We don't have nearly as much cameras as they do in the UK maybe 1/20 or 1/30 of the amount. Plus if they are any police cameras, they are VERY visible and labeled with the police logo. People just don't hasle you bout this stuff. You can be walking down the street & toking and nobody will bother you. We have April 20th, is Canabis Day at which people go downtown and toke up together. And cops don't do **** bout it. Thats why Canada has the MOST canabis users among all the leading nations. lol. thx tolerance

Umm I take it you dont have much experience with adsense? The banners are sent straight from google you cant pick and choose advertisers other than ratings based ther isnt much control at all on the part of websites. They participate or they dont thats it..

Exactly. Have a look at my own site for adsense, I made the choice "do I really want content I haven't directly approved of on my site on the very slight off chance someone will not ad-block it, see it, and click on it to earn me $0.10(tbd: value is somewhat vague depending on how well the ad client has chosen their keywords), or... not." It's still called "responsibility."

 (looks out window) oh, your damn right, this IS Canada.
Spend some time sitting in on public criminal cases wherever you live. It will not only be educational but will open your eyes to what the local city police are capable of (and covert surveillance, from cameras to unmarked civilian tail cars (aka: not crown vics) is definitely not beyond them.)
