I'm not exactly a pro at it but what you do is uncompress the files with preferrably winRAR. After that you can look into the ISO's structure and delete the files you like, although they aren't like clearly named or anything helpful liek that :) . Or you can just get a ripkit and apply your iso to that.

I'm trying the same thing Kimbonious. I have two games that I want to shrink onto my card so my battery will actually last a decent amount of time- and I can't stand the loading times.

The guy who didn't want to log in said you just unrar, delete whatever and you're good. But I've heard that you can only use a specific program to recompress them so that the PSP will load it. Then I hear if you remove any files, fastloader won't run them- that you have to replace the file somehow... it was all very cryptic.

Is there someone out there that can help Kimbonious and myself out? Who has the most ripkits available out there? Is there a tutorial for what kinds of things to remove, and if you need to replace them with a dummy file or whatever? Is there a better loader than fastloader out there now? What is the easiest program to use to rebuild isos? Can I just unrar, delete files, and re-rar?

Some info that was here before the site was cleand up which may help you.

FAQ:
Q: What does replacing the .pad files do?
A: Nothing the pad file is used to help the game load when using the UMD. Deleting these files does nothing to the game play.

Q: How do I rebuild the ISO?
A: Check this thread here (no longer available) But baisicaly you remove/dummy all you need to and then re-build with UMDgen or VcdromX. Simply re-building with winiso, ultraiso, magiciso ,etc... will NOT work!

Updated Answer: Well I attached UMDgen, and this program is so simple my 2-year-old cousin could use it. Simply open it put game files in the root, and select save as, and save it. And enjoy your ripped backup with UMDgen or devhook. Get it here with how to : http://www.umdgen.com/

Q: How do I make a 0 byte file?
A: Create a text file by right-clicking and selecting new text file, then name it whatever you want (remember to include the extension)

Or to do multiple files at once (suggested by waynevan2000)
make a new text document, cut and paste this command inside it.

IF NOT EXIST DUMMY mkdir DUMMY
FOR %%A IN (*) DO TYPE > DUMMY\%%A
Del DUMMY\dummy.bat

Rename the text document to
dummy.bat

Then simply copy any files you want 0 bite's of, into a new folder along with the dummy bat. double click the dummy.bat file and it will make a new folder with duplicates of 0 bite's inside..

Q: How much space does the update folder take (from games like Coded Arms)?
A: roughly 13 MB

Q: How many games can I fit on one stick?
A: the following table will show roughly the amounts of space avalible on each of the stick out there. If these values are different please let me know
2 gig ----> 1.9GB
1 gig ----> 949MB
512 MB --> 474MB
256 MB --> 237MB
128 MB --> 118MB

Hope this helps :)
